Our high flow cotton gauze air filter is washable, reusable and built to last for the life of an automotive or motorcycle engine. K&N air filters consist of four to six sheets of cotton gauze layered between two sheets of aluminum wire mesh. Customer Rating: Summary: Great filter = better mileage Comment: This is a great way to increase your MPG at a reasonable price. Have got about 1MPG improvement on my JK Rubicon with this. It is far better return on investment than a full cold air intake install.
Just remember to tell your mechanic/dealer to *not* replace this when you are due for air replacement during a scheduled maintenance service. Customer Rating: Summary: 2008 Wrangler- cpu says 1mpg gain Comment: I never really checked my fuel mileage in the jeep... But I am thinking I was getting about 20-24MPG... I was getting about 450-480 miles out of a tank. Computer said around 22.5 and now after installing the K N AIr filter it says around 23.5... So I think it is going to improve gas mileage. Plus this is about the only option for a air filter... ALthough I did read somewhere something about a STP air filter being available.

Customer Rating: Summary: Where's the gain? Comment: I've used K&N filters in the past, with noticeable fuel mileage improvement and perceptible power improvement.
I didn't notice any improvement with this on my Jeep. In fact, I dare say my fuel mileage went down compared to the factory filter.
Unfortunately, without delivering the fuel mileage and performance gains K&N claims for their products, I can't give this product any rating higher than mediocre. On the upside, I'll be using this filter for a long time to come, without the need for replacement and putting waste in a landfill.
