The first one had a glitch, so I called the folks at the store and they sent me another Mastercool and paid for the shipping, both ways. The product works very well at the distances they said it would. I tested the Mastercool with other thermometers and it was within a couple of tenths of accuracy. I am satisfied with this product. What a wonderful toy for us big kids.
One warning: The picture of the thermometer kit and case is misleading. The free thermocouple is not a probe, it is just a wire. It works, but just having a wire to measure temperature is rather useless. Not something you want to dip into liquids or over a flame.
Even with this misleading advertisement, it is still a wonderful piece of equipment.

I wish they included an emissivity chart with the documentation though. Also, it has many functions on it that I have no idea of how to enable them. Very disapointed.
