Summary: Missing some details
Comment: The good: This book is step-by-step and offers a lot of practical tips for beginners. It includes a lot of close-up photo's to illustrate the steps.
The bad: The tutorial photo's are in black and white and often there are no photos of the hardest steps.

The first things you run into when it comes to maintenance of motorcycles is 'wear and tear' parts, like chains and dashboard lights, that sooner or later will break down, no matter how careful you are. Before you can renew the dashboard lights, you have to unmount the under and upper fairing and more. Afterwards you'll of course have to mount it again. This is not something a rookie like me can do in an hour or so.

It would be nice if you could buy the lights at forehand, so you don't have the fairing parts lying around your garage while you are waiting for the replacement lights (or leds) to be delivered. Unfortunately, the exact types and number(s) of such lights are not mentioned in this book. This is unfortunate, since that is exactly the kind of information you want to look up in a book like this.

Another example: When changing the oil filter, the book advises to change an O-ring of a tube that passes oil, near the filter. It doesn't mention any measurements, type or size of that O-ring. Not only does this force you to break up and go to the hardware store for just one O-ring, it also makes it hard to find the exact size of O-ring, since there are countless types. When you mount the wrong type, you later on will have to unmount the left under fairing and oil tube again, just to fix this one little ring.

I think omitting these details is a missed opportunity and an important downside to this book. It's the only choice you have, so for a beginner it's still better than nothing, but for someone experienced with other motorcycles, it's less interesting.
