It is small and relatively light (Although I would NOT want it on my keychain) and can be very useful for odd jobs. Small jobs like putting up Christmas lights to hanging a bird feeder - you will find that the Mini-Clutch will come in handy.
Things that I like -
- Seems to be high quality - I have used it for over a year.
- Pliers are a little on the small side, but they are still useful - especially for cutting wire
- The blade is a little soft, but it is relatively sharp and it has lived up to my expectations.
Final tally - While the Mini-Clutch is not as useful as a full sized Leatherman - but it is significantly small and less expensive.
5 Stars. Customer Rating: Summary: Handy little tool Comment: I got this tool as a gift from my wishlist. I had previously always been a Leatherman owner but wanted to try out a Gerber. I have to say I am impressed with the little tool. I find it to be very solidly built and like the way the blades and pliers "clunk" when pulled out for use. It is a nice size for carrying in a pocket and not too heavy. (Although I do agree with the other reviewer who said it might be too big for a car key ring as it would bang about when used with a key in a car ignition)
Overall I expect this to prove to be a very handy tool for many years to come. Customer Rating: Summary: Compact and great as a daily carry-around tool Comment: When folded, this item isn't much bigger than a box of matches. For daily use it's been really great for me and it has come in very handy on several occasions. This is not meant for heavy duty work, so don't buy it with the expectation that it will perform anything more than light, daily tasks. This is very well machined and has proven to be very durable. The blade sharpens very well. I put a large strain on the pliers the other day while pulling heavy duty staples from packaging, but the tool held up quite well. Considering that the pliers are the distinguishing feature of this tool, I'm really pleased with their durability and usefulness. I also have used the screwdrivers and tweezers several times without any trouble.
Pros: Tiny and easy to pocket. Well machined and durable for such a tiny size. Useful set of tools makes it a valuable daily pocket item. Excellent price for the quality.
Cons: A little heavy; probably not good as a keychain. Phillips screwdriver looks a little thin on the cross-axis, but so far it's worked very well. Customer Rating: Summary: Pliers broke after 5 uses - bottle open is poor Comment: I'm unimpressed with the strength and quality. The lockout on the pliers broke the first time I needed to apply some moderate grip strength. Now I can fail the pliers by squeezing my finger. The bottle opener is poor. I often ended up using the pliers to open bottles. After 4 weeks, its in the trash. Customer Rating: Summary: Just doesn't cut it... Comment: The pliers are OK, but the blades are hard to use, and not very useful.
