This is the New Micro DE Projector from Hella. Only 2" in diameter, this advanced design lamp is as powerful as the much larger 550 or 500 Fog and generates a superior fog pattern. This is the ideal Fog lamp to install behind an air dam or bumper as the only cutout required is a 2" diameter hole. The lens is of a high quality tempered glass and the shell is magnesium to withstand the heat of the 55w H3 bulb in such a small enclosure. The lamp is available only with a Black ring. The Silver and Blue ring have been discontinued. The rubber boot shown on rear is included.
The Micro DE Xenon HID Driving Lamp is often used inset into the body work or other discrete location. Perfect for use on motorcycles. This lamp makes the equivalent light of a 300 watt lamp, while only drawing about 35 watts, after startup. The white light is near the color of daylight.

Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent lamps, good price! Comment: I bought these for a 1997 Toyota 4Runner. Fitting them required only a minor cutout of the plastic grill, and I just used the two holes already in the metal portion of the grill to mount them (drilled out a bit to fit the bolts included with this kit). Although the kit comes with a switch I found a factory Toyota lighted fog lamp switch for $10 or so on ebay that works and looks great, just like a factory install. These lamps put out an impressive amount of light, including along the sides of the road so that you can spot animals that might be along the roadside before they become a problem. There are several potential ways you can wire this kit; the instructions have you hook it up to low-beams, but it can just as easily be wired to parking lights if you want them to be on for both low and high beam operations (and it's easy to change your mind later too). The wiring harness is quite nice, very beefy, and the kit DOES use include a relay for maximum power to the bulbs. I am a slow worker, so total install time was about 6 hours, about 2 of which was spent deciding on where I would mount it (there were several options). One other thing from reading various net posts: the magnesium casing withstands a lot of heat but can be subject to higher corrosion from road salt. Avoid mounting too low where it will get a lot of splash up. For cars that have factory mounts that go into the wheel wells... check the net for various splash shield options. Customer Rating: Summary: Complete kit, and a good value. Comment: I bought these Micro DE Halogen lights to take the place of the huge and useless fog lights that came on my Subaru Impreza RS, as the Subaru lights seem designed to break weekly, and each lamp costs more than the whole Hella kit. While waiting for the Hella kit to arrive, I downloaded wiring diagrams, and I planned out my install so that could use the factory wiring without cutting any harnesses. This was accomplished simply by pig-tailing the new lamps onto the old molex connectors (clipped from broken OEM fog lamps), and I used the Hella harness kit to connect up a new set of highway horns. Everything came together exactly as designed, with the most difficult part being the fitting of the lamp mounts onto channel stock behind the grill. The one note I would make is that the Hella wiring is a bit higher grade than the OEM harness, with fat stranded copper on the hot side (very nice), and tidy connections. It is very long, and I may eventually cut out the extra (now zip-tied behind the fenders). The only thing I didn't much like was the little clip connector for the relay pig-tail (same type that everybody uses), but that took five minutes to fix as I just crimped on (+) and (-) automotive connectors to hook in line on the horn connection. The whole set-up works much better than the OEM lights from Subaru, and everything together cost less than one of their lamps, plus it gave me the harness I needed for my horns. The end result also looks much more tastefull than the Subaru OEM pie-plates in my bumper (holes now taken by Sti covers).
