Customer Rating: Summary: Works well Comment: On every car where I have replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electrical fuel pump, I have installed one of these fuel pressure regulators. On a mid-80s BMW that I converted from FI to carburetor, I installed this item. In all cases the product has worked well.
There is the numbered dial with detent positions. I always wondered how accurate that really was. On the BMW, where I fitted a Weber 32/36 carburetor, I had the setting at 3 psi. The Weber is supposed to operate at between 2.5 and 3.5 psi. As a test, I lowered the setting to 2.5 psi. With that setting, the car was hesitating to go up a steep incline. Returning to 3 psi, all was well, so I do believe the settings are accurate.
Although I have had success with my installations, I see there are reviews that are not so positive. Perhaps I have just been lucky. Similarly, I praised the Mr. Gasket electric fuel pump, while other reviewers had problems within the first 10 minutes of installation. Then, when I needed to use my "spare" Mr. Gasket pump, it also failed almost immediately.
I can only report that I have had success with this fuel pressure regulator, would install another, and can recommend it. Here, in El Salvador there is a racing series for classic Alfa Romeos. These are running dual sidedraft Weber carburetors. The racers have begun to use these pressure regulators with good results.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cheap and a Bit Nasty Comment: Well, it kinda works, but be warned: it's cheaply made and it leaks. Not badly, but even a small leak is way too much. Not recommended and in my opinion not completely safe. Customer Rating: Summary: Chinese-Made Junk Comment: Where automotive reliability is concerned, something either works or it doesn't. This product fails. I too bought it for a Weber 34 DGEC conversion and it just arbitrarily shuts off fuel when idling. At ANY setting of the pressure selection knob. The price should have tipped me off. Customer Rating: Summary: Defective Comment: I was not happy with this regulator. The dial was too easy to adjust (or accidently adjust) and in the 0.5-2 psi range, it shut off completely! It worked OK in the upper psi range.
On the plus side the Amazon returns process was very pain free. Customer Rating: Summary: Good value for the money Comment: I purchased this regulator to install with a new Weber carburetor on my 83 Tercel Wagon. It seems to be a good value for the money with solid construction, a nice chrome finish, and a dial that is easy to adjust without being easy to accidentally adjust.
My only disappointment with it is very minor in that it did not come with teflon tape which will be needed to seal the adapter fittings into the regulator body.
One could certainly pay allot more for a regulator that does the same thing.
