Summary: color magic
Comment: I used this product on a very dark blue car, it covered the lite scratches. The shine was very good and it did bring out the color of the car.

Summary: Surprisingly, Product Works Extremely Well
Comment: Here are the basic metrics: I have a 2003 Chevy Suburban that is Black (GM factory paint code Black 40). The paint was already in good condition despite its 94000 miles, with no apparent oxidation. The previous owner likely had an eager dog because the paw marks were on at least four panels in the form of various swirls and up and down scratches.

It's important to note that for all the visible scratches (white in color and obvious from 12-14 feet), most scratches could not be felt when running my fingertips over them. But some could.

I carefully followed the instructions and used liberal amounts of the black Color Magic on a damp cloth. I did one panel at a time and was patient and careful. I waited for the haze to appear and then waited a few minutes longer. I used one cloth for wiping off the wax residue and another just for buffing. This made all the difference.

Here was the big trick for the successful results of the product: After completely wiping off the wax residue with one cloth, I waited a few minutes for "invisible" wax residue to dry; maybe five minutes. Waiting five minutes made buffing a snap! And as a guy who has seen "miracle wax products" come and go, I am not exaggerating when reporting that I got a mirror finish with the scratches made invisible to a 95% level. I'm certain that being patient with the application and buffing process was key.

Bottom line: the black Color Magic product works very well. I can't speak for the other colors. And since the procuct is dye-based, I'm tempted to see if a second coat would make the scratches 100% invisible.

Applying a single coat of this wax/dye fills in the scratches; a second coat would dye the first-layer even more efficiently, theoretically. I'll report back if I decide to do it again. Even my wife who is not a motorhead noticed the difference immediately. She said it appeared as if the Suburban was freshly painted.

Where the scratches were visible from 12-14 feet before - well, now you have to get within two feet and look very closely with your familiarity of the scratch locations. From 3-5 feet it looks phenomenal. I'll likely wax it once every six months as recommended and see how it goes. I wish I could post before and after pics. It worked just that well.

OK, that's it. Good luck.

Summary: turtle wax color magic with chip stick
Comment: I have a three inch long, down to the metal scratch on one of my car doors. I worked on the scratch for about 30 minutes. I discovered early into the job that the chip stick is the most important part of the process. Once I was "finished" the scratch was still visible, but not as pronounced. It worked well on less serious scratches. I am going to try and work on it again, maybe if I get more of the chip stick wax pushed into the scratch the results will be better.

Summary: Turtle Wax T374KT Color Magic Car Polish with ChipStik
Comment: I have a 1998 Dodge Stratus that I need to sell that had many scratches on the trunk lid from a cat that decided to turn the trunk lid into a sleeping spot. Every time I would approach the car at night, the cat would jump off the car in haste, creating deep scratches from its paws each time it did so. I bought the Turtle Wax product at Auto Zone in hope that it would cover the scratches well enough for me to sell the car. "Looks" is everything when trying to sell a car; believe me! After using the product, I was extremely pleased that it not only covered the deep scratches, but made the car look like new; I almost don't want to sell it now that it looks so good!
The bottle the product comes in has a cut-out in it where a lip stick type of applicator is stored. The lip stick type of applicator holds a lip stick style dispensed hard, colored wax the same color as the liquid wax in the bottle. When you have a deep scratch to cover up, you take the lip stick applicator and rub the hard, colored wax into the scratch using a back and forth motion that is perpendicular to the scratch (so the hard wax gets pounded into the grove in the paint). My scratches were so deep that the gray primer was visible in each one of them. When you've rubbed enough wax in the scratch, there will be some wax left on top of the paint next to the scratch, but some buffing with an old, soft, cotton sock will remove all the hard wax except for what's in the scratch. Although this takes a little time, the result is very rewarding, and seems to give you the motivation to "finish the job". After you have all your scratches filled with the hard wax, you can then use the soft wax in a bottle to gloss over rest of the panel the scratches are on. The soft wax can be put on with another soft, cotton sock (I use old, white socks with holes in them for this). I usually do one panel at a time because this does take some work, and seeing one panel "finished" and looking like new frequently makes me want to keep going until the whole car is done. Like I said earlier, the results are amazing. The only limitation is that there are countless shades and colors of car paint, and you have to get kind of lucky that there is a color and shade available that is exactly the same as your car. For instance my car is a "True" red, but the Turtle wax product is kind of a Purplish red, and didn't exactly match. But...from a distance of about 5 or so feet you can't see the difference, and the car looks so shiny that you can shave in the reflection!
I would highly recommend this product to anyone that wants to either put a high-gloss shine on their favorite car, or anyone that wants to camouflage a scratched up car long enough to get it sold.
