I bought the topsider about 6 months ago to change oil on my BMW. I am very happy with it as it did the job recently very well on my BMW Z3 2000, with 2.5 liter engine. It pumped out all the oil (7quarts). Just follow the directions in the box. I warmed up the engine until the oil is warm (not hot), insert the straight tube to the bottom of the oil pan. Then, pull up a little bit so it does not form a tight seal at the floor of the pan. It took about 15-20 minutes to pump up 7 quarts if you are familiar with the procedure. BTW, I found opening the oil cap and the filter box makes the oil come out easier.
Tang Customer Rating: Summary: It's okay Comment: I've changed my oil with this about 6-7 times, and it always works fine. When I first received it, there were some air leaks (even with the proper gaskets lubricated) so I used some sealer and fixed it up. It will drain the oil from my Mercedes which holds 6 quarts of 20w-50 in about 15-20 minutes. I've found that the trick is to get the oil warm, not hot... too hot and the plastic hose softens and collapses, slowing the suction. All in all, it's a great product if you can't be bothered to unscrew the oil drain bolt. I lubricated all the gaskets, ran my engine for 10 minutes, pumped it 50-60 times and let the oil drain...TOPSIDER TOOK 4 HOURS TO GET ALL THE OIL OUT (8.5 quarts)!!! The pump had sufficient suction as the oil moves verrrrrrrrrry slowly, I dont understand how people say this works in 20 minutes. I pumped some water and it was pretty quick, but as far as oil this machine is horrible..
